Reflections: Here comes the rain
by awindram
For what seems to be the first time in months in this Northern California town, the strip malls are covered by dark clouds and a hard, persistent rain falls onto the asphalt. Yesterday the sky was so perfectly blue it looked like it was straight from a David Hockney painting; today the town looks like a monochrome image. I think I’m 6,000 miles away and back home in Teesside. The rain makes everything look like Middlesbrough. The last time it rained in this town they cancelled their scheduled Highland Games, calling into question the Scottish heritage and resilence of the St Andrew’s Society of Modesto.
