51 long, dark nights for America: A shitty weekend, America
Fifty-one long, dark nights to go.
Trump’s Daily Twitter Highlight: “Under the leadership of Obama & Clinton, Americans have experienced more attacks at home than victories abroad. Time to change the playbook!”
Clinton’s Daily Twitter Highlight: “I strongly condemn the apparent terrorist attacks in Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York.”

The end of a disturbing weekend. There seems little to add to tonight’s entry other than that – except to note that we could just be one catastrophic event away from Trump being handed the election. It always seemed laughable the idea that he might win, he had alienated so many centrist Republicans as well as a number of on the right who view him as an unprincipled, opportunistic interloper. It would require a succession of unfortunate events for a Trump victory, and yet they might be happening. Trump posits himself as the strongman; normally, that would be self-evidently ridiculous, but the optics of Clinton collapsing into a waiting car changes how people feel in these uncertain times over who best they think can protect them, and, maybe, just maybe, they might think that 70-year-old man wearing a made in China baseball cap who is constantly denigrating and demonizing outsiders is the one who can best do it. Fifty-one nights now. May the Lord have mercy on our souls? Amen.
